TCF Canada: no more re-marking of writing and speaking since 1 September 2026
Until now, a disappointing writing or speaking score could be challenged. For sessions held from 1 September 2026, that is no longer possible. Here is what changes, and how not to pay the price.
What changed on 1 September 2026
France Éducation international, which designs and marks the TCF Canada, no longer accepts re-marking requests for the writing and speaking tests for sessions held from 1 September 2026. The suspension is planned for about a year, with the service expected back in autumn 2027. Approved centres, such as Alliance Française de Delhi, have passed the notice on to their candidates.
If you took your test on 31 August 2026 or earlier, re-marking is still available under the usual conditions.
Why it matters for NCLC 7
For Express Entry you usually need NCLC 7 in all four skills, which means at least 10/20 in writing and 10/20 in speaking (see the score table). These two tests are marked by examiners: that is where a point can go missing.
Before, a 9/20 in speaking could be challenged. Now that 9/20 is final: you have to retake the test.
What a disappointing score costs
| Before September 2026 | Since 1 September 2026 |
|---|---|
| Re-marking request possible | No re-marking of writing and speaking |
| Your score could be reviewed | Your score is final |
| — | Retake the test: at least 20 days later |
| — | Pay again: 226,000 FCFA in Cameroon |
In Cameroon one sitting costs 226,000 FCFA (the fee breakdown), and registration slots are hard to get. And your results are only valid for two years (the rule).
The only remedy: on exam day
During the suspension you can still complain about the exam conditions (noise, technical problem, incident), but only if you report it to the centre on the day of the exam. Complaints made after the results are published are not accepted.
How to pass the first time

Measure your level in the real format.
Module 1 is free, with no sign-up: exam format, NCLC scale and strategies, explained in English. The mock exam covers all four tests in the official timing and converts your results to NCLC.
Frequently asked questions
Can I still ask for my TCF Canada to be re-marked?
Not for writing and speaking at sessions held from 1 September 2026: France Éducation international has suspended these requests for about a year. For an exam taken on 31 August 2026 or earlier, re-marking is still possible.
What if my speaking score is too low?
Retake the TCF Canada, at least 20 days after the previous sitting, and pay the registration fee again.
How long will the suspension last?
About a year: re-marking is expected back in autumn 2027. Check with your approved centre before taking the test.
Can I complain about my exam conditions?
Yes, but only by reporting it to the centre on the same day. Complaints after the results are not accepted.
