How to read your result
Your weakest level is the one that counts: IRCC does not average the four skills (see how the TCF Canada is scored).
CRS language points add up skill by skill. With French as your second official language (English first):
| Level | Points per skill |
|---|---|
| NCLC 4 or lower | 0 |
| NCLC 5 or 6 | 1 |
| NCLC 7 or 8 | 3 |
| NCLC 9 or higher | 6 |
Maximum 24 points without a spouse, 22 with one.
With French as your first official language:
| Level | Without a spouse | With a spouse |
|---|---|---|
| NCLC 4 or 5 | 6 | 6 |
| NCLC 6 | 9 | 8 |
| NCLC 7 | 17 | 16 |
| NCLC 8 | 23 | 22 |
| NCLC 9 | 31 | 29 |
| NCLC 10 or higher | 34 | 32 |
The French bonus is added if you have NCLC 7 or higher in all four skills: 50 points with CLB 5 or higher in all four English skills, 25 points otherwise.

Frequently asked questions
Is this calculator official?
No. It applies the table published by IRCC, but only IRCC assesses your file. Always check the current rules on canada.ca.
Can I use my mock exam scores?
Yes. It is the best way to know whether you are ready before you pay for the TCF Canada.
Why is there no overall level?
Because IRCC does not use one: it keeps one level per skill. The calculator shows your weakest level, the one that decides your eligibility.
